Beer Pong is one of the most well-known drinking games around and has many different variations. Below we’ve listed the rules for what we consider the most popular version of the game. Like many drinking games beer pong has some simple rules to follow and some others that you can decide whether or not to include to keep it interesting.

What do you need?
- Party Cups
- Beer Pong Balls
- Beer Pong Table (Not necessary as a normal table will do)
- Something drinkable to add in each cup (Beer etc.)
The Setup
The first thing you have to take care of is the setup. You will need a standard table about 2 meters long if possible, next place 10 plastic party cups in a triangle formation at both ends. Then pour beer into all the cups until they are around half or three-quarters filled. While the name incorporates beer in it, some people mix it up by using other drinks or just doing straight shots to make it messier.
Basic Rules
This drinking game can be played one-on-one or by two teams. The number of members in each team will vary depending on what you want, but there is no limit as to how many people can play the game since it is all about taking turns. Each team will take turns attempting to throw a ping pong ball into one of your opponent’s cups. Once the ball lands in a cup, it should be taken out of the pyramid, and your opponent must drink the contents. When played in teams, two balls are typically used and both players from one team shoot, followed by the other team if both players in a team score the balls are returned, and they go again. The game ends when a team successfully takes out all the opponent’s cups, at this point they are declared the winner, and the losers must finish whatever drink is left on the table.
Other Rules
Here are a few other standard house rules you can decide whether or not to include. Are bounce shots allowed? It’s common to allow shots that bounce once off the table (some players prefer this) but not count shots that bounce twice or more. Another rule allows players to blow the ball out of a cup if it’s spinning around the rim but although this is easier than you would think, if a ball touches the beer and is blown out, it still counts as a successful shot.
Before starting, you have to determine who will play first. There are different ways to determine this, the simplest of which is rock, paper, and scissors, with the winner getting the opportunity to decide who plays first. Another way to determine is by playing a game called “Eyes”. Each player will attempt to shoot a ball into one of the cups while maintaining eye contact with the other player, the first team to score can choose who goes first. If both players are successful this is repeated until only one score.
