7 Good reasons to Drink Red Wine
The fact that red wine has a healthy effect on your heart is not new. Scientists have long agreed. But there are seven other health benefits of sipping a glass of red wine every now and then. You probably didn’t realize them.
You come home tired after a long day at work. Grab a beer in the fridge and put yourself in your favorite armchair to relax. Do not do that! Rather, pull the plug of a good bottle of red wine, it benefits your health and may even improve your appearance.
We will take a closer look at some of the many benefits of enjoying a glass of red wine every now and then.
1. Doesn’t make you fat
When you drink red wine, your appetite decreases. But not only that! Studies have shown that red wine can also prevent fat cells from developing into lateral bones. This reduces the risk of becoming overweight.
2. Improves digestion
A glass of red wine for food helps reduce the harmful effects of certain chemicals before spreading throughout your gut. The wine also causes the body to release nitric oxide, which acts relaxing on the walls of your stomach as food comes down. Thus, it also has a positive effect on irritable colon, while improving digestion.
3. Gives a reason to smile
That in itself is a good reason to smile. But there is even more reason to smile. For the red wine, your teeth protect against bacteria so that, for example, plaque does not accumulate. Sure enough, red wine may tend to color the teeth blue, but it can be brushed away. Plaque can’t.
4. Combats the flu and colds
A glass of red wine or two a day inhibits the propagation of viruses in your system due to the high level of the antioxidant-rich polyphenols contained in the red wine. So some would probably argue that one could call red wine liquid medicine.
5. Strengthen your bones
The strength of your bones also improves if you squint. With a moderate intake of red wine, you can maintain strong, healthy bones and avoid osteoporosis. This is especially true of postmenopausal women – women who have reached the age at which they no longer menstruate and can no longer have children. But be careful! For an overuse it has the opposite effect.
6. Extends your life
It goes without saying that when red wine can help fight and prevent you from getting various diseases and improve your digestion and strengthen your bones, then red wine is a good trump in the quest for a longer life. However, in addition to the benefits mentioned above, it is also believed that red wine has a beneficial effect on high cholesterol, prevents dementia and can improve your lung function.
But remember it is at moderate consumption (about 1 glass in the evening for women and 1-2 glasses for men).
7. Prevents cancer
But it is not just the flu and cold you can avoid if you drink red wine. Some of the most exciting research reveals that red wine has cancer-fighting properties – again because of the polyphenols that damage the cells and DNA that can cause cancer.
